Currently, the development of Fish for Life takes great steps forward – check out all the colors from the recent renderings on the new blog entry at fishforlife.lisamona.video. First, I’ve chosen the colors of the characters and their story. These colors repeat in every single detail of the movie. For Fish for Life, I use a dark blueish, turquoise tone and a bright yellow.
Giving the model its texture I’ve used Substance Painter. With this software, I am able to paint directly on the model. Afterward, the exporting texture maps build the foundation of the shading network in Maya. It’s my responsibility to create the materials and shading for all the objects and characters of the movie apart from the water shading.
We’re rendering with V-Ray. And voilá – there they are. Beautiful pictures, giving you a little foretaste of what the actual animated short would look like.
About the project
As I mentioned in a previous post, we’re a team of four very ambitious people creating a 3d animated short about an old man and his life-changing journey. I am very pleased to be part of such an amazing, creative process.
Next steps
The animation process is in the starting blocks. Afterward, we will lighten every single shot and define the cameras. For this my dear colleague Kerstin Blätterbinder is responsible. The postproduction will start this summer. So, there is still a bit of work to do.
